Brown Eyes
Brown Eyes is a unique anthology that brings together a collection of poetry and autobiographical writing from 42 previously unheard and talented black and mixed race writers - everyday women expressing themselves in their own style. It provides an insight into their perspectives of living in the UK by sharing their views relating to gender, race, culture, heritage, ethnicity and identity.
Some of the contributions are energetic, others speak with softness, some discuss childhood, love, while others deal with loss. The voices collected here range from teenage to mature, rural and urban, from mothers and daughters, all contributing to the anthology's rich diversity.
Brown Eyes was selected in August 2007 for Star Reads www.starreads.org Recommended Reading List for young adults.
